Please welcome Suzanna Thiese to Community Solutions. Suzanna will join the Research team as a Fellow on Tuesday, August 16th. Suzanna recently completed her Ph.D. in Nursing where her research focused on the social determinants of maternal mortality and medical mistrust among Black women in America.  

Prior to joining Community Solutions, Suzanna worked as a nurse at both Akron Children’s Hospital and Faithful Servants Care Center. Faithful Servants, located in Tallmadge, offers free urgent health services for those without insurance.

 Suzanna’s research interests include food insecurity, health disparities, and racial justice and equity.

In addition to maternal mortality and social determinants, Suzanna’s research interests include food insecurity, health disparities, and racial justice and equity. She is currently a member of both the Youth Violence Prevention Plan and Public Health subcommittees of the City of Akron’s Racial Equity & Social Justice Taskforce.
