Data Days is an annual conference centered around using data to build community and promote civic engagement in Northeast Ohio. Leaders, experts, and data-enthusiasts present innovative uses of data with a focus on action in social justice, research, and policy. Community Solutions participates each year and often presents; this year our staff are leading three sessions.
October 22, 2024
8:30am – 4:00pm, post-conference reception at 4:00pm
Cleveland Public Library – Louis Stokes Wing
525 Superior Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44114
In these times of mis- and disinformation, coming together around actionable, accurate data is more important than ever. With sessions catered to those interested in community building (with or without a data background), and beginner, intermediate, and experienced data users, there is something for everyone and all are welcome.
Why attend Data Days?
There are more than two dozen sessions offered at Data Days on October 22. Learn useful tools to help advance your work and impact in making Northeast Ohio a better place. Here are a few incredible opportunities:
Connect with other like-minded students and professionals from a variety of fields by networking before, during, and after the sessions, including over food and drink at the post-conference reception at Butcher and the Brewer.
How data impacts public policy funding; data-informed community action; and health inequities
Community Solutions’ team members have presented at past conferences. In addition to sharing our expertise in three sessions, this year we support Data Days as fiscal sponsor.
Our staff will present diverse topics related to our priority areas:
The Power of Formulas in Public Policy Funding | Dylan Armstrong
Examining how funding formulas can be used to support different policy goals.
Let’s Talk – Community Fact Sheets to Action | Alex Dorman and Angela Maher
Exploring how data from Community Solutions’ recently released Cleveland Neighborhood and Cuyahoga County Council District Data Profiles and Fact Sheets can be used and made actionable.
Best Practices for Measuring Sex, Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation | Andrew M. Snyder
Discussing how the misrepresentation of the LGBTQ+ community in data can lead to inequities in health, education, economic status, and social support. Andrew will demonstrate recommended methods for accurate representation in data collection.
