Last year, The Center for Community Solutions Board and staff worked over several months to create a new strategic plan that was officially approved by the Board at the beginning of 2020. This plan reflects months of work and included a survey, where Community Solutions collected feedback from a broad swath of the community and performed interviews with key stakeholders. Part of the process also included adopting a new mission statement -- Community Solutions improves health, social and economic conditions through nonpartisan research, policy analysis, communications and advocacy.

It is critical to recognize how the painful history of slavery and racism in this country has caused the disparities that we see for Black Ohioans

One of the grounding goals of the plan is to embolden Community Solutions’ commitment to racial equity in all aspects of the organization, both internal and external. We also took this opportunity to update our organizational policy priorities so they better align with our strategic goals, and to focus our advocacy ahead of the 2022-2023 state budget process that will begin early next year.

Community Solutions improves health, social and economic conditions through nonpartisan research, policy analysis, communications and advocacy.

The impact of systemic racism, and resulting disparities across heath and human services, is a part of our policy priorities and the overview of how we achieve our mission. It is critical to recognize how the painful history of slavery and racism in this country has caused the disparities that we see for Black Ohioans in health, policy, the structure of the safety net and many other issues that Community Solutions sees as priorities.

The two pages below lay out both how we achieve our mission and the policy priorities we have updated and set forth for our work over the next three years. Click to download a PDF of each or scroll through the gallery below.
